MDC, Inc. is a family owned and operated company based in Lafayette, CA.  Tim McNamara has been building in Lafayette since 2004.   MDC, Inc. builds outstanding single family homes with a focus on quality construction, integration of green elements, and spectacular design. We achieve this by focusing on our core values of honesty and quality.  Our skilled team takes pride in our work product and constantly seeks to get things right the first time.  At MDC, Inc., we challenge our team to create distinguished homes by integrating key elements - from design, to construction materials, to finishes.  By taking our team's experiences and integrating them into our projects, we facilitate opportunities to build special homes for our clients.  Our homeowners understand this commitment from day 1, and more importantly to us, in the months and years after completion.
 

To illustrate our process, we highlight one of our most unique projects, Happy Valley.  This was a complete remodel and addition of a historical Lafayette home.  Built for Lafayette founder Elam Brown's niece in 1903, Happy Valley was challenging and rewarding.  We designed this home to maintain it's original elements yet introduce a modern floorplan and contemporary feel.  The extensive work began in the design stage.  We chose to save the original structure, but that created unique challenges.  Neighbors will recall it started by raising the home 15 feet in the air to replace the failed original foundation.  Next, we worked to implement a modern, functional floorplan around the original 30 x 35 foot home while retaining original elements.  Using original photos from the Lafayette Historical Society we brought back original key exterior elements of the home - from the porch, to the siding, to the windows with custom milled trim.  Inside we repurposed some of the original timber to bring a historic hue to the project.  Those who know this signature home can still recognize the original face of 1903 from the front elevation.  This home is a great example of how we took an iconic historical home, and brought it back to life for another 100 years.
